low 40s. so real cold weather is continuing in the bay area by california standards, but we will begin to edge high temperatures up tomorrow into the low 50-degree range, plenty of sunshine, but it will be chilly. that low pressure that was over us now heads into the midwest over the panhandle region of texas and as a result they're getting ice storms in parts of the southeast, a real mess out there. for our part of country this cold pool of air will settle over the west coast another 48 hours and then we nudge it aside. in the meantime lows plunge to the 20s inland tonight as high pressure builds in offshore. we'll be looking for sunshine and things warming slightly a few degrees a day and then we'll be back to 60 degrees for forecast highs by thursday. so after the record lows tonight slight warming trend begins tomorrow. it won't be warm tomorrow, just a bit warmer than told which is not saying much -- today which is not saying much. we'll be back to near 60 did he

by mid-week. look -- near 60 degrees by midweek. look at miami, 82 degrees. teens and 0 degrees in lake wobegone territory in minneapolis. for us numbers considerably warmer, 50s in the central valley, 55 degrees at monterey and for forecast highs in the bay area we'll still about 10 degrees below average this time of year with san jose coming in at only 51 degrees, 48 at hayward tomorrow, lots of sunshine, 50 at pittsburg, 47 degrees san ramon, north bay low 50s. those numbers are up 5 degrees from today. it won't feel warm, but it won't be quite as cold. in the extended forecast we'll have sunshine between now and wednesday and then set the stage for the numbers to warm to near 60 degrees by the latter half of the week. we'll increase clouds, but there's not a drop of rain in the forecast. that's looking all the way out to christmas eve. >> that far out.
